Affiliate links
Some links to hotels, tours and travel services are affiliate links: a booking made through one pays this site a commission, at no extra cost to the person booking. Each is marked (commission link) in the sentence where it appears — not in a footer, and not in a tooltip that a phone cannot show.
When a link is followed, the destination site may set its own cookie to attribute the booking. That happens on their site under their policy; the privacy page covers what happens on this one.
Display advertising
There is none yet. When there is, advertisements will sit between the sections of a guide — never inside a paragraph, never as a pop-up or a page that has to be dismissed, and never as video that plays by itself.
What is not for sale
We do not do sponsored stays, we do not do press trips, and we do not write about anywhere we have not personally been.
